Myths about Improv
It is a free form, anything goes approach. Improv
actually has structure and rules just like any other
system or philosophy. Improv's structure, rather
than being restrictive, breeds exploration and
innovation.
FALSE!

It is about trying to be funny. Comedic improv
works because the scenarios and characters are
absurd; but improv can be used in dramatic works
as well. Most business settings will not be absurd
(most); however, the basic rules of agreement,
communications and acceptance can be used to
create a beautiful scene (aka making the sale).
FALSE!

You must know how to "act' to improvise. In
reality, you have to know how to listen, observe
and re-act to successfully apply the rules of
improv.
